Anti Samos, Kefalonia

Antisamos is another of the spectacular beaches on Kefalonia.  It is over the headland from Sami and coaches cannot get there along the winding road. Let's hope it stays that way as the beach gets crowded enough during July and August as it is  In reality the beach is white pebbles and not sand so take your beach shoes.  The further you go down the beach the more relaxed it becomes.  

The best spot for photos is the second hairpin on the way up.  You are on the right side of the road and you can pull off with relative safety.

Stop! Stop! photos!  came the cries from the back as they came round the bend and suddenly saw view of the white bay curving away against the blue of the sea, it was breathtaking. Dick ignored the calls and kept going. 'There's a car behind.' The girls turned round.  'It's stopped why can't we?' 'Because the car behind that almost went it the back of it.'  Sudenly a car accelerated  away from the wrong side of the road and it was Dick's turn to do an emergency stop.  'Bloody trippers.' At the bottom it was no different, three Italian cars were fighting over the one parking space by the ice cream hut.  'I don't know why they want to park here there are no sun beds left.' The chums negotiated their way down to the far end on the track and parked next to an empty stretch of beach. The girls took one look at the beach and said. 'Lilos! We're not lying on those pebbles.'  The boys immediately gabbed the snorkels and masks and went for a swim to avoid blowing them up.

The secret of the captains village on the road to Anti Samos. It's all MDF, plaster and scaffolding, but very realistic. In fact more realist than many of the real old buildings. Of course the film set was built with the road to the bay through the middle, which meant even more chaos and confusion as trippers just abandoned their cars and wandered around.   In the full story you can read how the return from the beach was almost the last thing the chums ever did.
